Xin Nian Hao! Happy New Year!
This week in the Stegs room, we are having a lot of fun celebrating our new theme, “All About China” with lots of creative ways for the Stegs to experience Chinese culture and tradition. In our drama corner, we have been playing, “Chinese Restaurant” and making noodles in a big pot. The children have also loved trying on the Chinese Opera Masks and Teacher Candy has been showing the children how to change the masks quickly, as it is a tradition in Chinese Opera. In our art area, we have been working on making good luck fish to decorate for the New Year! By far the favourite activity of the week has been playing with the dumpling moulds, as the children explain which flavours of dumpling they are making. Flavours include beef, Betina, and strawberry! We have also been busy sorting traditional foods and gold coins into Hong Bao envelopes to practice our fine motor skills.
We are so proud of our Stegs for performing in their first school assembly on Friday. They sang and danced to two songs very confidently. We also congratulated our classmate Fred for becoming better at sharing and showing his passion for football to others.
