We’re keeping cool in July during our third week of Summer Camp! The theme of the week is Camping in the Arctic! We have been enjoying so many fun snowy activities this week such as hiding in the igloo, shovelling snow, and sleeping in a bear cave. In our art area this week, we have been working on building our own snowman from recycled materials. We put all the boxes together to build the “World’s Tallest Snowman!” We also made snow globes from recycled plastic containers. To make our classroom feel extra chilly, we have been enjoying painting the windows with winter scenes. It is very funny considering the very hot weather outside! In the sensory area this week, we have been making snow mountains from shaving foam and cornstarch. Our gross motor area has become a mountain climbing challenge as we had fun playing on a challenging obstacle course.
We enjoyed cooling off with our water play session this week, splashing around in the courtyard out of the school.
We closed the week with a school wide party in the gym, complete with obstacle course, face painting, snowball fighting, cookie making, and a shaved ice machine!
Next week theme is Camping in the Forest and we look forward to a fun week exploring the great outdoors from inside of our classrooms!
Next week many of our teachers will head off for vacation. SEIPS is excited to see some of our new teachers return from a restful holiday. We look forward to seeing our returning little campers next week as well as some new friends. A reminder for parents that in order to keep a smooth transition between camp weeks, weekly enrollment cutoff is every Thursday at 4pm.
